Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Early 20th-century French lanterns often drew inspiration from 18th-century classical and provincial metalwork, incorporating ornamental scrollwork, decorative finials, and durable weather-resistant materials for both grand interiors and exterior courtyards.

Traditional French lanterns were constructed using hand-wrought iron frames combined with zinc or lead embellishments and inset glass panels to protect the light source while enduring atmospheric exposure.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit signs of age-appropriate oxidisation, hand-riveted metal joinery, unique zinc moulding details, and natural surface patination from historic exposure.

A pair of antique lanterns can be hung above a large kitchen island, positioned in a grand entryway, or installed in a covered garden room to introduce architectural texture and historical contrast.

Preserve original patination by dusting regularly with a soft cloth and applying a neutral microcrystalline wax to the metalwork, while avoiding harsh chemical cleaners that strip natural surface oxidisation.
