Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian sterling silver boxes were functional personal accessories utilised for holding pills, snuff, or small trinkets. They frequently featured detailed hand-engraving, relief foliage motifs, and vacant central cartouches intended for personalised monograms.

These boxes were constructed from sterling silver containing 92.5 percent pure silver alloyed with copper for durability. Techniques such as die-stamping, chasing, and hand-engraving were employed to create intricate surface patterns.

Authentic British examples carry official assay hallmarks, including the lion passant mark for sterling purity, a town mark, a makers mark, and a specific date letter indicating the exact year of manufacture.

A small silver box functions effectively on a bedside table, dressing tray, or desk surface. It serves as decorative storage for delicate jewellery, cufflinks, or paperclips while adding historical texture to modern tabletops.

Maintain sterling silver by wiping gently with a dry, soft silver polishing cloth to remove surface tarnish. Avoid harsh liquid chemical dips, which remove the dark oxidisation in recessed relief work that highlights the decorative depth.
