Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Early 20th-century English wicker furniture is recognised for its sturdy construction, dense weaving techniques, and functional geometric forms. Makers during this period favoured natural cane and willow, moving away from ornate Victorian designs towards cleaner Arts and Crafts inspired silhouettes.

Traditional wicker furniture was constructed using natural materials such as rattan, willow, cane, and reed woven over solid hardwood or bentwood frames. Unbleached and natural finishes were standard to showcase the organic texture of the material.

Authentic vintage pieces exhibit tight, hand-woven construction around solid wood framework rather than modern synthetic fibres or lightweight tubular metal. Look for maker marks, stencilled stamps, and signs of natural patination on the underside and structural joints.

Wicker tables introduce texture and warmth when paired with contemporary upholstery or structured modern seating. They work exceptionally well in sunrooms, living room alcoves, or beside linen-upholstered sofas to soften modern geometric architectural lines.

Keep woven cane furniture in a climate-controlled environment away from direct heat sources to prevent the natural fibres from becoming brittle. Dust regularly with a soft brush and lightly mist with water periodically to maintain moisture balance in the weave.
