Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Novelty silver table condiments gained widespread popularity in Britain during the Victorian era and continued through the twentieth century. Silversmiths created functional salt cellars, pepper casters, and mustard pots shaped like animals, birds, and everyday objects to add interest to formal dining tables.

Mid-century silver shakers were typically cast or constructed from sterling silver, hallmarked to guarantee a purity of 925 parts per thousand. Fine details such as feathers or fur were applied using hand-chasing techniques, and inset glass or gemstone beads were frequently fitted to form the eyes.

Authentic British sterling silver displays a complete set of hallmarks, including the lion passant mark for sterling purity, an assay office symbol, a date letter, and a registered makers mark. Silver-plated alternatives lack these official hallmarks and often feature makers stamps indicating electroplating.

Sculptural silver condiments can be displayed on a sideboard top, curated within a glazed cabinet, or placed on a dining table alongside contemporary glassware. Their textured metallic finish complements both traditional wooden dining surfaces and minimalist modern settings.

Salt can cause corrosion on sterling silver over time, so interior cavities should be emptied and wiped dry when not in long-term use. Gentle silver polish applied with a soft cotton cloth removes surface tarnish, while avoiding abrasive compounds preserves fine chased surface details.
