Description

A fine quality Georgian bracket clock by Henry Taylor of London. A bell top pediment to the flame mahogany case of good proportions. Brass edging to the opening front door dial and standing on ogee brass feet. Brass fretwork to the case sides with silk backing. A silvered brass dial signed 'Henry Taylor, London' with blued steel hands. A strike/silent to the top of the dial arch. A brass dial with corner spandrels. A rarer feature of a date dial beneath the XII position.

A fine quality, twin fusee mechanism striking the hours on a bell. A glass back door showing the mechanism. A lovely original key. Georgian examples with the original wall bracket are hard to find. Circa 1780.

Henry Taylor of London is recorded in Baillies' 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of The World' book as working in 1761.

Height of the clock (handle down) 18" / 47cms Width 10 1/2"/ 27cms Depth 8" / 20cms.

Height of the wall bracket 11 1/2" / 30cms Width 11 1/2"/ 30cms Depth 8 1/2" / 21cms.​
