Ritas Bazaar has dated this Silver Overlay Cobalt Glass to the 1960s.
Both pieces are hand-blown in transparent deep cobalt blue glass and decorated with a thick sterling silver overlay, meticulously hand engraved with flowering wild rose branches and finely detailed foliage. The perfume bottle retains its original solid cobalt glass stopper with matching silver decoration, while the vase still bears its original factory paper label reading "Hand Made by Laugharne Glass" together with the workshop's historic telephone number.
Production remained relatively limited, and complete matching sets are considerably scarcer than individual examples.
The workshop's own literature described its sterling silver overlay as exceptionally thick and of a quality surpassing many nineteenth-century examples. Today Laugharne Glass is regarded as one of the most distinctive British studio glass workshops of the late twentieth century.
