Ritas Bazaar has dated this Davenport Bone China Tureen to the Victorian era.
The finely potted bone china body is decorated in Davenport's Pattern No. 1680 with broad hand-painted gold bands following the moulded gadrooned ornament. The cover is surmounted by a finely modelled artichoke finial, while the Rococo scroll handles retain their original gilded finish. The restrained decoration and elegant moulded form are characteristic of Davenport's mid-Victorian tablewares.
Established in 1794, Davenport developed into one of Staffordshire's foremost porcelain manufacturers and gained an international reputation for the quality of its bone china throughout the nineteenth century.
The undersides retain the original pink printed Davenport crown factory backstamps reading DAVENPORT / LONGPORT / STAFFORDSHIRE, together with the matching hand-painted Pattern No. 1680 on all three pieces, confirming them as an original factory-matched set.

Condition:
The sauce tureen is in excellent antique condition with the gilding exceptionally well preserved. The stand has slight wear to the gilding and is otherwise in excellent antique condition. The platter has minimal wear to the gilding and remains in excellent antique condition.
