Webberley Antiques has dated this Chinese Chippendale Library Chair to the 18th Century.

Newly upholstered in a high quality jacquard silk woven damask of a pale gold colour with pale ivory pattern, this is a very comfortable chair, well padded throughout, and good support to the gently curved and raked back.

Some losses to the fretwork at the very ends of the front as is natural - just from hoovers and the like and entirely usual in Georgian period chairs of this design. The chair has some dings, marks, losses and restorations and with 19th century oak corner blocks added to the seat rails under the seat pad - only visible if you turn the chair upside down. No wood worm.

A very handsome chair with a really lovely colour to the frame and rich natural patina and with a few faults as described which are reflected in my price.
