Original 1960 Marc Chagall Double-sided Lithograph – 'Ève Maudite Par Dieu' (Mourlot 236 / 259)

An authentic, original double-sided lithograph by Marc Chagall (1887–1985) from his renowned biblical suite, published in Paris in 1960. This sheet was issued within the landmark publication 'Dessins pour la Bible' (Drawings for the Bible), which formed a combined double volume of the art magazine Verve (Vol. X, Nos 37 and 38), printed by the master lithographers Mourlot Frères.

The front (recto) features the striking colour lithograph 'Ève maudite par Dieu' (Eve Cursed by God), catalogued in the artist's official graphic oeuvre as Mourlot 236. The reverse (verso) features a secondary, independent original lithograph in black and white, catalogued as Mourlot 259, which bears a neat, historical handwritten pencil annotation identifying the title at the top margin.

The lithograph is offered unframed. The colour side remains bright, displaying the distinct, rich granular ink texture characteristic of stone/plate lithography, with well-preserved saturation and no fading or foxing to the image area. The paper is flat, structurally sound, and free of tears. The sheet retains its full, original margins, clearly displaying the authentic, fibrous binding marks and original deckled edge along the inner margin from its historical inclusion within the Verve volume.

The verso displays light, superficial adhesive staining and minor tape/hinge remnants restricted to the far corners, resulting from historical archival mounting for a previous frame. This residue is confined strictly to the rear margins and does not bleed through or impact the visual integrity of the artwork on either side.
