A superb English Art Deco bedside cabinet by Walter Carter for Harrods Ltd, dating from the 1930s. Beautifully crafted in richly figured burr walnut, the cabinet features striking book-matched veneers, contrasting ebony stringing and a geometric inlaid top, all raised on elegant turned legs. Retaining its original decorative drop ring handle and the original Walter Carter – Harrods Ltd paper label inside the cupboard, this is a quality piece from one of the cabinet makers who supplied Harrods during the Art Deco period. The exceptional burr walnut veneers and refined proportions exemplify the understated elegance and craftsmanship of the era.

In 1920, Harrods acquired Walter Carter Ltd, a prominent furniture maker and depository based in Manchester. Following the takeover, furniture produced or handled by the company during this era often bears dual stamps, labels, or tags featuring both the Walter Carter and Harrods names

Condition: Presented in good antique condition with age-related wear consistent with nearly a century of use, including light surface marks, minor knocks and some veneer shrinkage lines, all of which add to its authentic character without detracting from its overall appearance.
