Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Pine farmhouse tables originated in rural nineteenth-century homes as robust, utilitarian work surfaces for kitchen preparation and communal dining. Characterised by sturdy timber construction, simple turned or tapered legs, and often incorporating frieze drawers, they represent practical country furniture design.

These tables were typically crafted from European softwoods such as Scots pine or pitch pine, joined using mortise and tenon carpentry techniques. Tops were often constructed from solid pine planks, occasionally unvarnished or scrubbed clean after daily kitchen use.

Authentic period examples display natural wear, timber shrinkage, hand-cut dovetail joints on frieze drawers, and historical marks from domestic use. Inspecting the underside reveals uneven saw marks and dark patina consistent with age.

A pine farmhouse table provides warm timber tones that contrast effectively against contemporary minimalist architecture or modern kitchen cabinetry. Pairing the table with mid-century chairs or industrial metal seating creates an eclectic, balanced aesthetic.

Clean the surface regularly with a soft damp cloth, drying immediately to prevent water spots on the timber finish. Apply a quality clear beeswax polish several times a year to protect the wood grain and maintain the natural patina.
