Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Queen Anne style cheval mirror is a full-length dressing mirror suspended between two vertical uprights, inspired by early 18th-century English design. Characterised by refined proportions, shaped top cresting, and gentle cabriole legs, this piece allows the mirror frame to tilt for angle adjustment.

Traditional cheval mirrors feature timber frames, frequently constructed using walnut, mahogany, or oak, often decorated with figured burr veneers. The glass mirror plate is mounted between two carved upright posts supported by outspread feet and secured with adjustable brass swivels.

Period pieces display hand-carved details, traditional mortise and tenon joinery, and natural age-related patination on the timber finish. Authentic examples also feature original brass pivot hardware and minor oxidisation or foxing on early silvered glass.

Place a cheval mirror in a dressing room, bedroom suite, or hallway to create depth and reflect natural light. Pairing warm timber tones with neutral wall palettes and understated brass accents creates a balanced mix of classic and contemporary elements.

Maintain the timber finish by dusting regularly with a microfibre cloth and applying beeswax polish once a year along the grain. Clean the mirror glass by applying a suitable glass cleaner directly to a soft cloth to avoid liquid contacting the wood frame.
