Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the 1920s, British furniture design shifted towards clean lines and functional proportions, heavily influenced by the late Arts and Crafts movement and early modern manufacturing techniques. Makers such as Heal & Son favoured solid English oak with simple geometric silhouettes and understated construction details.

Pieces from this period were primarily constructed using solid oak, utilising traditional joinery such as mortise and tenon joints alongside lower stretchers for structural stability. Seats were typically upholstered over padded bases to provide comfort while maintaining a streamlined frame profile.

Authentic Heals furniture from this era often features a makers button or inset ivorine plaque situated beneath the frame or seat rail. Additionally, examine the quarter-sawn oak graining, precise right-angled joinery, and substantial stretcher rails characteristic of early 20th-century workshop production.

A compact oak stool serves as functional occasional seating at the foot of a bed, within a dressing space, or in an entryway. The neutral wood tones and straightforward geometric form allow it to blend alongside both contemporary and period furnishings.

Dust the wooden frame regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to maintain the timbers patina and prevent drying. Avoid placing the stool near direct heat sources or radiators, and spot-clean the upholstered seat using specialised fabric cleaners.
