Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1900s.

Once the lid is lifted, the back side is gold embossed with a pristine makers label "B Savory / Dressing Case Makers / 45 Cornhill, London ".
The interior is an absolute joy, complete and with some top-notch fittings including a Scottish Mauchline Tartan Ware Needle box, pristine and covered in the MacDonald tartan.

There is also a sterling silver thimble made by the most famous of maker's, Charles Horner and hallmarked for Chester 1903; an unused Mother of Pearl clad fruit knife and a pencil with agate end, also signed B Savory London.

Behind these are three leather cases, one containing a sewing set with a very unusual Mother of Pearl crochet hook, a bodkin, pair of scissors and a stiletto. One of the other contains an unused aide memoir and the second, an unused needle case.
Superb in every way, this highly desirable box can only be described as pristine. 2 1/2" x 2 1/4" x 4 1/8" tall.
