We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian sterling silver dishes from the late nineteenth century often feature intricate pierced fretwork, scrollwork, and Rococo Revival influences, reflecting the periods emphasis on detailed craftsmanship for formal table presentation.

These pieces were crafted from 925 standard sterling silver, utilising techniques such as hand-piercing, repousse work, embossing, and casting to form ornate openwork patterns and contoured scroll borders.

Authentic British items carry official assay office hallmarks, including the lion passant mark for sterling silver purity, a makers mark, a town mark, and a specific date letter corresponding to the year of production.

Arranging openwork silver dishes on a dining table centre or sideboard alongside contemporary ceramics or minimal greenery creates a balanced contrast between historic ornament and modern design.

Clean gently using a soft cloth and specialised silver polish, avoiding abrasive scrubbers or harsh chemical dips that could damage delicate pierced fretwork over time.
