Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the early 20th century, European football clubs commissioned embroidered silk banners to celebrate foundation dates, tournament victories, or club identity. These textiles served as ceremonial standards presented during matches or displayed within clubhouses.

These banners were crafted from high-grade silk or satin grounds featuring hand or machine embroidery executed with silk and metallic threads. Tasseled fringe trims and corner appliques were routinely added to reinforce edges and enhance visual presence.

Authentic 1920s pieces feature period-accurate stitching techniques, natural fiber age wear, faint foxing, and period-specific typography. The imagery, such as player kits and leather football styles depicted in motifs, provides further chronological verification.

Mounted inside a custom UV-protective shadow box, an antique textile banner serves as graphic historical art. It integrates well into a study, hallway, or gallery wall alongside dark timber panelling or contemporary neutral schemes.

Silk textiles should be kept away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and damp conditions to prevent thread brittleness and colour fading. Conservation framing using acid-free mounting boards and museum glass provides maximum protection against environmental degradation.
