Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian dressing table stools are typically low-profile seats designed for use beside vanity tables or within dressing rooms. They frequently feature turned or fluted legs, carved corner accents, parcel gilding, and upholstered square seats reflecting mid-to-late 19th-century design revivals.

Craftsmen commonly used solid hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or walnut, often enhanced with carved details and parcel gilding. The frames were topped with webbed or padded seats using traditional upholstery materials like horsehair, cotton wadding, and decorative woven fabrics.

Authentic pieces display evidence of period joinery, such as hand-cut tenon joints beneath the frame, original wood patination, and hand-applied gilding within turnings or carvings. Unexposed undersides often show historic timber construction markings or traditional upholstery tacks.

A Victorian dressing stool can be incorporated into contemporary interiors as an occasional seat at a modern dressing table, positioned at the foot of a bed, or used as a compact footstool in a living space to add warmth and historical texture.

Dust timber frames regularly with a dry, lint-free cloth and apply high-grade beeswax sparingly to un-gilded wood surfaces. Protect textile upholstery from direct sunlight to avoid fading, and clean minor fabric spots using specialized dry-cleaning methods suitable for historic textiles.
