Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Kashmiri papier-mache is a traditional craft introduced to the Kashmir valley in the 14th century from Persia. The art form combines paper pulp moulding with detailed miniature painting techniques, traditionally used to create decorative domestic items and lighting.

These lamp bases are formed from layers of recycled paper pulp and glue, dried in moulds, and smoothed with pumice stone. The surface is sealed with a base coat, painted with mineral or organic pigments, and finished with protective clear lacquer.

Authentic pieces feature dense, hand-painted artwork with visible brushwork rather than printed transfers. They are light in weight compared to ceramic or wood, with a distinctive smooth lacquered finish and traditional motifs such as polo matches, floral arabesques, or hunting scenes.

Position the lamp on a neutral sideboard or side table to allow its detailed figurative artwork to act as a focal point. Pair it with a plain silk or linen shade to balance the complex pattern on the base.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Avoid using water, damp sponges, or chemical solvents, as moisture and harsh detergents can damage the clear lacquer layer and underlying paintwork.
