M Lees and Sons has dated this George III Mahogany Wine Cooler to the Georgian era.
Of traditional coopered stave construction with two broad brass bands to the gently tapering body . Fitted with shaped brass carrying handles to the ends.

The oval cooler sitting on the original loose stand raised on tapering square-section supports of slightly splayed design having carved block shoulders where they join the oval stand, fitted with tall , tapering box-section brass castors with ‘barrel’ type wheels.

The vacant interior possibly having had the lead liner removed, now with an associated zinc tray with raised edges suitable perhaps to stand wine bottles or plants on if used as a jardiniere.
In excellent original condition, having one minor historic repair to underside of the stand above one leg, though completely strong and stable . The whole having a rich colour and patina with no gaps or loose sections to the staved body .
A classic Georgian mahogany wine-cooler of restrained design.
