Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the nineteenth century, municipal authorities installed copper and iron lanterns across urban areas to house gas and oil illumination. Copper was selected for its natural resistance to weather and corrosion, forming a protective verdigris surface over time.

Traditional street lights were fabricated using sheet copper, cast iron, wrought iron, and clear glass panes. The copper cowl was often vented to allow heat and combustion gases to escape while protecting the interior flame from wind and rain.

Authentic period lanterns feature hand-riveted copper construction, natural verdigris oxidisation, cast metal corner embellishments, and mounting bases sized for traditional post or bracket fittings rather than modern electrical conduit.

These lanterns are frequently rewired for modern electricity and mounted on stone gate piers, exterior house entrances, or incorporated into garden landscaping schemes. They can also serve as dramatic interior feature lighting in double-height hallways or dining areas.

The natural verdigris patina acts as a protective barrier and should not be removed with harsh chemical polishes. Maintenance requires gentle cleaning of the glass panes with warm water and soft cloths, alongside periodic inspection of iron components for stability.
