Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Swedish trestle dining table typically features a long plank top supported by end trestles, often in an X-frame or trestle shape, connected by a long central stretcher rail. Originating in rural Scandinavia, this design was prized for its stability, straightforward construction, and efficient use of space.

Traditional Swedish trestle tables were constructed primarily from local softwoods such as pine or fir. They relied on traditional joinery techniques, including pegged mortise and tenon joints and removable wooden wedges, allowing the table to be dismantled or easily moved.

Authentic antique trestle tables often show natural surface wear, scrubbed or weathered finishes, and hand-planed timber marks on the underside. Look for historic joinery methods, original wooden wedged stretchers, and uneven patination caused by years of daily use.

Pair a rustic trestle table with contemporary dining chairs, such as mid-century modern or minimalist metal designs, to create a balanced contrast. Complement the natural timber tone with neutral linen textiles, ceramics, and understated lighting fixtures.

Clean unvarnished pine surfaces using a dry or slightly damp cloth to prevent water staining. Periodically apply a clear beeswax polish to protect the timber grain while preserving its natural weathered appearance.
