Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Stoneware tavern mugs are utilitarian ceramic drinking vessels produced extensively in Britain during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries for pub and home use. Often featuring two-tone glazes and sprigged relief decoration, they were designed for durability when serving ale.

These mugs were thrown from dense stoneware clay and fired at high temperatures. Common salt glaze was created by throwing salt into the kiln during firing, which reacted with silica in the clay to form a durable, orange-peel textured ceramic finish.

Authentic pieces often display hand-applied handles, variable glaze transitions, weight from heavy clay, and sometimes excise weights or Victorian capacity marks stamped near the rim. Modern reproductions usually exhibit smoother surfaces, uniform weight, and precise machine manufacturing.

Grouping multiple stoneware mugs together on open kitchen shelving, a dresser, or a sideboard creates a strong visual statement based on warm pottery textures. They can also function as rustic utensil holders or vases on a dining table or console.

Hand wash stoneware with warm water and mild liquid soap using a soft cloth, avoiding abrasive sponges or dishwashers that could damage the glaze. Ensure the pottery is thoroughly dried before storage to prevent moisture retention in fine craze lines.
