A rare and beautiful, small ''chanteh'' (vanity-bag), made by the Bolvardi tayefeh of the Qashqa''i Confederation circa 1880-1900.
The bag has a stunning abrash of blue-green and dark-blue in the knotted-pile face and human representation, stylized animals and double-headed creatures upsides-down where the tribal weaver started knotting.
The back is equally beautiful with horizontal bands of aubergine, red, light-brown, light-blue, golden-yellow and ivory and the selvedges are over-bound in the same beautiful, natural colours.
Acquired recently from an old private collection, the bag has been washed and the wool is soft and shiny.
