Spinka & Co has dated this Antique Carved Oak Mirror to the Victorian era.
The upper section features a cavetto cornice enriched with carved foliage, crowned by decorative bell-shaped finials. Below, a striking acanthus leaf frieze surmounts an elegant egg-and-dart inner border. The frame is flanked by magnificent, substantial reeded columns, detailed with ornate leaf capitals at the crest, scrolling motifs, and beautiful floral carvings at the base.

The mirror retains its original 19th-century glass, displaying a light, authentic foxing that beautifully testifies to its age and heritage. Preserved in remarkable original condition throughout, the solid oak frame boasts its original finish—which has been expertly cleaned and hand-waxed alongside its original panelled timber backboards.

Versatile in design, this statement piece can be positioned as a majestic overmantel mirror or used as a full-length floor-standing mirror. A truly monumental statement piece, this late-Victorian solid oak mirror brings architectural grandeur to any room.

This monumental antique mirror came to us from a private individual, Alderley Edge in Cheshire. It has been very well looked after over the years. Solid and sturdy.
