Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian table lamps, produced between 1901 and 1910, often incorporated Classical and Neoclassical revival design elements. These pieces feature slender turned or fluted wooden shafts, stepped bases, and solid brass fittings tailored for refined early 20th-century interiors.

Lamps from this period were crafted primarily from dense hardwoods like mahogany, walnut, or oak, combined with brass bayonet bulb holders and weighted bases. The timber components were shaped on a lathe and finished using traditional wax or French polish.

Authentic period examples display genuine age-related surface wear on the timber base, original brass lamp holders, and evidence of multi-section turned wood assembly. Many were originally constructed with central threaded rods holding the turned sections together.

Arrange a matching pair symmetrically on a console table, sideboard, or pair of bedside cabinets to establish visual balance. Complement the dark mahogany tones with neutral linen or silk lampshades to create contrast against modern wall colours.

Dust the timber regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year to preserve the finish. Ensure all electrical components are tested by a qualified electrician prior to use.
