Kingsdown Antiques has dated this Edwardian Oak Cigar Box to the 1900s.
A fully functioning key-operated lock is fitted to the front, and the box is supplied with a key as shown. Hallmarked or Sheffield, 1908.

The underside carries a printed label stating that the oak is “over 600 years old” and taken from the foundation of Holy Trinity Church during restoration in 1907, with the name Barnby and Rust.
It is equally at home on a writing desk, dressing table, or bookshelf as a refined storage piece.
