An Irish antique Edwardian sterling silver "Mether" which has a plain body, a wavy top edge and resting on four stylish support handles. This unusual and decorative object was originally designed as a drinking vessel and was popular in Ireland for serving mead. Today it could equally be used as a vase and would look eye catching when displayed. It remains in excellent condition.

During the Celtic Revival movement of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, silversmiths recreated these historic forms in hallmarked sterling silver.
