Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the 18th and early 19th centuries, chocolate cups were designed specifically for drinking rich hot chocolate, a luxury beverage among European nobility. These vessels feature lids to retain heat and dual handles for secure handling.

Bloor Derby pieces were crafted from soft-paste porcelain, finished with a fine glaze, hand-painted enamels, and mercury gilding. The decorative scenes were often rendered in sepia tones or monochrome enamels with hand-applied gold leaf accents.

Authentic pieces typically feature distinct factory marks on the base, such as the printed Bloor Derby crown mark used from circa 1811 to 1848. Genuine examples demonstrate hand-painted details, subtle translucency, and characteristic Regency gilded leaf borders.

Displaying antique porcelain inside glass-fronted cabinets, on mantelpieces, or atop styled sideboards adds historic texture and refined interest. Pairing detailed porcelain with minimal contemporary decor highlights the craftsmanship of the period item.

Gilded porcelain should be dusted gently with a soft microfibre cloth and kept away from direct sunlight or moisture extremes. Hand washing in tepid water with mild soap is acceptable if necessary, avoiding abrasive sponges that could strip original gilding.
