ANTIQUE #SA1226558

Rare Dr Wall / First Period Worcester Porcelain "Chantilly Sprigs" Square Dessert Dish C.1780

£245    $327    €286
A Worcester porcelain lobed square dessert dish, rarely painted with the Chantilly Sprig pattern which is usually only found on tea wares, and copied directly from French porcelains of the period. A pseudo-French style mark to the underside, c.1780. Caughley did produce dessert wares in this same pattern that are well documented as being always marked with the Salopian ''S'', occasionally the ''C'' mark, or are unmarked.

Provenance: The Baines Collection.

Reference: Worcester Porcelain, Branyan, French & Sandon; Caughley & Worcester Porcelains, Godden; English Blue & White Porcelain, Godden.

It measures 24cm (9 1/2'') wide (edge to edge) and 4 (1 1/2'') high.

In excellent condition with just a couple of very minor chips to the foot rim. No repair or restoration and minimal handling wear. Slight running of the design around the edges.

Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal...
