Also Antique Furniture has dated this Antique Oak Gateleg Table to the 18th Century.
A good Queen Anne period oak six-legged gateleg table, dating from around 1700.

The rectangular top incorporates two drop leaves, supported on swinging gate legs, allowing the table to be used either as a compact side table or fully extended as a practical side, lamp or occasional table. It stands on attractively turned baluster legs united by plain stretchers, all displaying pleasing proportions typical of the Queen Anne period.

A genuine early 18th-century table with excellent character and useful proportions.

CONDITION
Presented in good, honest antique condition, commensurate with over 300 years of age and use. The table retains its original top, base and drop leaves with a rich original colour and patina. There are expected marks, knocks, scratches and water staining to the top. Some of the original hinges remain present, although their action is now provided by later adjacent hinges of the same design due to deterioration of the originals. The frame is solid and sturdy with no significant structural issues and the gatelegs move smoothly, making this an attractive and authentic example of an early Queen Anne gateleg table.

As with all antique and vintage furniture, this piece has been used and enjoyed over many years and should be expected to show signs of age and use. We aim to describe any significant faults, repairs or alterations as accurately and honestly as possible. The photographs form an important part of the description and should be viewed alongside the written condition report. If you would like further information or additional photographs, we are always happy to help before purchase.
