Late 19th Century Italian Hand-Blown Glass Footed EwerA fine late 19th century hand-blown clear glass footed ewer, probably Italian, of elegant and understated design. The globular body rises to a tall cylindrical neck terminating in a gently flared pouring lip and is fitted with a finely applied ribbed loop handle. The vessel is raised on a distinctive hollow spiral-twist pedestal above a folded circular foot, demonstrating the skill of the glassblower.The clear glass displays the subtle surface undulations, occasional entrapped air bubbles and faint grey-green tint associated with traditional hand-blown production. The restrained form reflects the enduring influence of Venetian glassmaking.Presented in very good antique condition with no chips, cracks or repairs.
