Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Delft charger is a large, decorative tin-glazed earthenware dish produced in or around Delft, Netherlands, during the 17th century. These pieces often featured hand-painted designs in cobalt blue, heavily influenced by imported Chinese porcelain.

These chargers were shaped from earthenware clay, coated with an opaque white tin glaze, and painted by hand using cobalt oxide pigments prior to firing. The reverse side often received a lead glaze, creating a distinct visual contrast between front and back.

Authentic 17th-century pieces typically exhibit tiny glaze pinholes, edge wear or rim flaking that reveals the buff clay body, and a soft sheen rather than a modern high gloss finish. Hand-painted Chinoiserie motifs show natural variations in brush stroke density.

A large Delft charger can be mounted on a neutral feature wall, displayed on a plate stand atop a sideboard, or positioned within a wall-mounted plate rack. The cobalt blue and white palette pairs effectively with dark timber, natural stone, or modern cabinetry.

Tin-glazed earthenware should be gently dusted with a soft dry cloth and kept clear of water submersion or chemical cleaners. Due to the delicate nature of the glaze and porous earthenware body, display away from direct heat sources and high humidity.
