A very fine Minton Porcelain Coffee Can & Saucer made for the Paris Exhibition of 1878. Very finely decorated by Désiré Leroy using a technique known as Limoges enamel, with a seated figure of Mars, the God of War, to the front of the coffee can and panels containing instruments, baskets of fruit and classical urns, all accentuated using raised paste gilding.
 
Gold mark for the Paris Exhibition 1878 to the base the coffee can. Purple globe mark to the base of the saucer. 
 
Condition: A crack to the front of the coffee can has been professionally restored.
