Decorative portrait of a lady mounted in a simple gilt frame and canvas mount with gilt slip. The painting is inscribed and dated on the front and signed by the artist Nicolas Sokoloff 1899-1985.

Nicolas Sokoloff was a prolific and renowned artist, who began his career in interior design before dedicating himself fully to painting from 1938 onwards. He is exhibited in several museums, including the Musée Saint-Pierre in Lyon and the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.
