Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Bamboo furniture and mirrors became highly popular during the late 19th century as part of the Aesthetic Movement and Japonisme trend. Western craftsmen imported natural bamboo or produced faux-bamboo carved wood to create decorative items inspired by East Asian design aesthetics.

Traditional bamboo mirrors were constructed using thick natural bamboo canes or stems mounted onto a timber carcass. The bamboo was often scorched or treated to create a tortoiseshell appearance before being mitred at the corners and fitted with mirror glass.

Authentic period pieces usually feature hand-moulded or hand-cut mitred joints, solid timber backing boards, and natural variations in the cane nodes. Evidence of dark scorched patination and historical foxing on the glass silvering also indicate age.

A bamboo mirror introduces organic texture and visual interest when placed against modern painted walls. It pairs effectively with botanical wall art, indoor foliage, or natural linen textiles to create a relaxed, layered decorative scheme.

Dust the bamboo frame regularly using a dry soft-bristled brush to clean around the nodes. Apply a light coat of natural clear beeswax occasionally to protect the cane from drying out, taking care not to let liquid cleaners touch the bamboo frame.
