DESCRIPTION
A finely cast Victorian patinated bronze figure depicting a classical mother carrying her child, after a design by the celebrated French sculptor Claude Michel Clodion (1738–1814).
The elegant standing figure is modelled wearing flowing classical drapery, the child resting upon her shoulder as she turns gracefully in contrapposto. The bronze displays crisp modelling throughout, with finely defined facial features, drapery folds and hair, all enhanced by a rich, mellow brown patina.
Inspired by Clodion''s celebrated classical compositions, the sculpture reflects the enduring popularity of eighteenth-century French Neoclassical models during the Victorian period. Its restrained scale makes it equally suitable for display on a mantelpiece, bookcase or occasional table.

The bronze displays an attractive, well-developed patina with
... light surface wear commensurate with age. There are minor marks and rubbing in places but no obvious damage or repairs noted. Overall the sculpture is in very good condition and presents well.

Larger items and more remote locations will incur higher charges. Most deliveries are completed within approximately two weeks, although faster delivery may sometimes be available.
