Baggott & Co. has dated this Anglo Indian Tray Table to the 1900s.
Stands on an octagonal folding hardwood base with latticework sides with carved lotus flower center, the 8 sides in 4 alternating patterns. Note some losses to the carving in places. The base is hinged and folds flat.

These portable folding tables were designed to take tea, or refreshment. Trays of this form from India take the name Benares, a British colloquial name for the city of Varanasi in India, which was famed for metalware and the making of beautiful decorated trays.
