Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Eastern silversmithing, particularly from regions such as Persia, India, and the Ottoman Empire, has a long tradition of combining chased silver detailing with vitreous enamel decoration. During the mid-20th century, artisan workshops produced small functional items like snuff boxes and vanity containers for both local trade and export, incorporating traditional floral and geometric patterns.

These items are constructed from solid silver alloys, which are shaped, hand-engraved, or chased to create recessed designs. Powdered glass pigments are applied into the recessed sections or onto the surface and fired at high temperatures to fuse the enamel to the metal base, producing durable, coloured decoration.

Authentic pieces usually feature hand-chased backgrounds, slight variations in the enamel application consistent with handcrafting, and stamped purity hallmarks or maker marks on the base or rim. The visual weight and cold tactile feel of genuine silver also distinguish real pieces from base metal imitations.

Small decorative silver boxes serve as functional accents when arranged on a bedside table, dressing table, or vanity tray to store small items of jewellery. They can also be integrated into bookshelf displays or coffee table arrangements alongside curated art books and small curiosities.

Clean silver enamel objects using a soft, lint-free cloth and mild soapy water if necessary, taking care not to submerge the piece. Avoid harsh chemical polishes or abrasive metal cleaners, as these can scratch or degrade the glass enamel surface and remove desirable oxidation from the carved silver background.
