Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Sheraton Revival furniture, produced primarily between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, emulates the late 18th-century Neoclassical designs of Thomas Sheraton. Key characteristics include graceful, slender proportions, turned or tapered legs, reeded framing, and decorative features like woven cane, carved paterae, and marquetry inlays.

These chairs are predominantly constructed from dense hardwoods such as mahogany or satinwood, often paired with hand-woven rattan cane panels for the backs or seats. Upholstery frequently utilizes rich natural fabrics including silk, damask, or velvet.

While Georgian originals date to circa 17901810, Sheraton Revival pieces date from approximately 18801920. Revival examples often display machine-assisted joinery, uniform wood grain from imported timbers, and slightly heavier proportions or standardized carved details compared to the entirely hand-crafted 18th-century originals.

Position the armchair beside a modern desk, within an empty reading nook, or as an accent seat alongside tailored contemporary upholstery. The warm timber tones and structured silhouette complement both traditional timber interiors and minimal, neutral backdrops.

Dust wood surfaces regularly with a soft lint-free cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish periodically to maintain the timber patination. Ensure cane panels are kept away from direct heat sources to prevent brittle drying, misting lightly with water occasionally to maintain fiber flexibility.
