Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced around the turn of the 20th century, Edwardian satinwood furniture frequently draws inspiration from 18th-century Sheraton and Hepplewhite designs. These pieces feature light-coloured veneers, classical marquetry, hand-painted floral swags or urn motifs, and symmetrical multi-section proportions.

Cabinetmakers primarily used West Indian or East Indian satinwood veneers over solid pine or oak frames. Secondary details often included mahogany crossbanding, boxwood or ebony stringing, bevelled mirror glass, and cast brass handles.

Authentic pieces display fine hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, original brass hardware, naturally aged mirror plate with minor foxing, and fine hand-painted or inlaid timber decorations rather than modern printed transfers.

A large satinwood wardrobe functions as a focal storage piece in a master bedroom or dressing room, providing contrast when paired with contemporary neutral textiles and clean architectural lines.

Keep the wood away from direct heat sources and strong sunlight to prevent fading and veneer lifting. Dust regularly with a clean microfibre cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish sparingly along the grain, taking care to avoid painted areas.
