Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An oleograph is a chromolithographic print process designed to imitate an oil painting on canvas or textured board. Developed in the nineteenth century, this method uses oil-based inks to replicate the colour depth and brushstroke texture of original oil artworks.

Traditional oleographs are printed onto woven canvas or heavy paper board using oil-based pigments. These prints are typically mounted into moulded timber frames decorated with gesso, acanthus details, and gold leaf or gilt foil finishes.

Authentic oleographs feature a textured surface that mimics woven canvas or raised oil paint rather than a flat, glossy photo finish. Under magnification, the print shows dot patterns characteristic of lithography rather than modern digital inkjet printing.

Position the framed print above a sideboard, mantelpiece, or console table to create a focal point. Combine it with muted wall colours, timber furniture, and natural linen textiles to complement the floral tones without overpowering the room.

Dust the frame and print surface gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth or feather duster. Avoid using liquid sprays or solvent cleaners, and hang the picture away from direct sunlight, high humidity, and heat sources to prevent fading and warping.
