Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the Edwardian era, tabletop dinner gongs and supper bells were used in domestic households to announce mealtimes or call household members. These decorative objects transitioned from larger wall-mounted gongs to refined tabletop models designed for dining rooms and verandas.

Table gongs from the early 20th century were typically constructed using cast brass frames and tubular or cylindrical brass chimes. These assemblies were mounted on solid timber bases, such as oak, mahogany, or walnut, and paired with leather- or felt-wrapped brass strikers.

Genuine period pieces display naturally occurring patination across the brass surfaces, hand-cut screw threads, and turned wood or cast brass finials. The timber base should feature natural age wear, original varnish, and period joinery consistent with early 20th-century manufacturing.

An antique dinner gong serves as a sculptural accent on a sideboard, hallway console, or fireplace mantelpiece. Pairing warm brass metalwork with contemporary neutral backdrops adds textural contrast and historical character to modern residential interiors.

Dust brass components regularly with a microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners that strip natural surface oxidisation and age patina. Timber bases should be treated with a high-quality beeswax polish to preserve the wood grain and protective finish.
