Treasure Trove Worcester Ltd has dated these French Cherub Wall Sconces to the 1900s.

Cast in metal with an aged bronze-tone patina, the sconces are embellished with delicate applied porcelain flowers, individually hand-formed and wired to the branches. The finely modelled figures and flowing foliate decoration reflect the Rococo Revival taste popular during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Originally candle sconces and later converted to electricity, retaining their period fittings. The sconces offer considerable decorative appeal and would make an attractive addition to a drawing room, bedroom, hallway or country house interior.

Condition: General age-related wear and patination throughout. Some small chips and nibbles to the porcelain flowers. One sconce requires reattachment of a lower section. Old electrical fittings are present and should be checked and likely rewired prior to use. Overall, the pair presents well and displays attractively.
