19th Century Banded Agate Desk Seal
A small 19th-century desk or personal seal carved from natural banded agate, displaying attractive concentric bands in shades of brown, cream and white. The seal is of tapered form with faceted sides, terminating in an octagonal seal face.
The base is engraved with a simple anchor motif. The engraving is lightly cut and shows some softness, consistent with age and use.
The agate is well polished and shows good natural translucency and variation, typical of Victorian agate work. The form and cutting style are characteristic of mid to late 19th-century examples, likely produced in Britain or Continental Europe, where agate seals were widely made during this period.
Material: Natural banded agate
Length: 38 mm
Condition:
In good antique condition. Light surface wear and minor rubbing consistent with age. No chips, cracks or repairs. Natural inclusions within the agate.
