Edwardian Silk Brocade Dress and Jacket Ensemble
An original Edwardian two-piece dress ensemble dating from the early twentieth century, circa 1910.
The dress is made from pale ivory silk jacquard woven with a stylised floral design in soft gold tones. The sleeveless bodice is cut with a deep V-shaped neckline edged with decorative braid and loop trim, above a raised waist seam and softly gathered skirt forming a long, elegant line typical of the Edwardian period.
The ensemble retains its matching short jacket, made from the same silk brocade, with softly gathered sleeves and buttoned cuffs. When worn together the jacket frames the bodice and completes the original design of the outfit.
The interior retains its original lining and construction consistent with garments of this period.
