Lee Hawkins Antiques & Interiors has dated this Chinese Lacquer Tilt Table to the 1900s.
The circular top is exceptionally decorative, displaying an elegant scene of scholars gathered within a tranquil garden setting beneath pine trees and drifting clouds, surrounded by an ornate scrolling foliate border.

The ingenious tilt-top mechanism allows the table to be stored upright when not in use, creating a dramatic decorative display whilst occupying very little floor space. Lowered into position, it becomes an elegant occasional, lamp or centre table suitable for both traditional and contemporary interiors.

The table is raised on a turned lacquered pedestal decorated with further gilt bamboo motifs, standing upon an attractive tripod base with shaped feet, complementing the circular top perfectly.
