CONDITION REPORT:
Good antique condition, displaying the expected wear associated with over 200 years of use. The solid oak top has surface marks, small historic knocks, shrinkage splits and evidence of long-term use, all adding to its authentic character. The brass swan neck handles and pierced escutcheons appear to be later replacements in keeping with the period, while the cupboard doors retain their original sliding block locking mechanism. There are historic repairs and restorations commensurate with age, including repairs around the top edge and general wear to the interior of the cupboards. The drawers and cupboard doors operate smoothly, the dresser is structurally sound and sturdy, and it has developed a rich, warm patina throughout. Overall, a well-preserved and highly usable early 19th century dresser base ready for everyday use.
