Lee Wright Antiques & Interiors Ltd has dated these Regency Rosewood Card Tables to the 19th Century.
An Excellent Pair of 19th Century English Regency Rosewood Card Tables, Probably by Gillows.
These lovely tables are veneered in high quality rosewood and of D shape with their rounded corners.
The friezes of the tables are inlaid with brass, the width of the stringing being particularly bold and contrasting beautifully with the patinated rosewood veneers. The tables are entirely typical of the high quality pieces produced by Gillows in the regency period and the timber is of the finest quality, a notable feature of all Gillows output as they had begun to import their own woods by this stage. The reeded and turned legs are a Gillows staple and are a key part of the attribution.
