A larger than usual EARLY VICTORIAN Silver Gilt Snuff box hallmarked for BIRMINGHAM 1840 by EDWARD SMITH.
Oblong shaped with a nicely engraved border on the lid. A rubbed family crest of perhaps a Tree on the lid.
The interior has a gilt wash and full set of hallmarks.
Measuring 7 cm x 5 cm x 1.5 cm and weighs a healthy 72.7 grams.
In good antique condition, the hallmarks are good, hinge working well , there is surface wear and small dings, gilding is still bright, engraving very nice. Usual signs of wear commensurate of age and use.
