Antique Ww1 Era Cordite Shell Carrier

1920 - 1940
Description

A good example of an original WWI era military 'Powder Monkey' used for transporting gun powder from the ship's hold to the cannons or transporting shells on the battlefield. It has a painted canvas exterior with a leather handle and the military coat of arms on the front.

It is in very good condition for its age with a beautiful patina. There are some general marks and scuffs and some losses and old repairs here and there but nothing untoward for a piece like this and it is a very decorative item. It has been lightly cleaned and polished and displays beautifully.

Height to Rim : 13 1/2" / 35cm
